Introduction: An Articulated Spider With Container

My name is Javi, I'm a student at Summit MCS, and I worked on this project. This is my work so far! Link: Click Here (sorry if it's still private)

Supplies

I used most of the basic shapes listed on the first shape menu for this project. This took me like 5 hours.

Step 1: Make a Joint!

I used a tube and a half-sphere to make my first joint. You are gonna want to save this joint, this is the basic one that is used throughout the whole body.

Step 2: Leg Making

I scaled the joint down, attached a cylinder to it, and grouped it all together. Next, I duplicated it, flipped it, and rotated it, so the joints could interlock. Then angle and bend the legs.

Step 3: Body Making

Make 2 spheres, make them spheroids, scale up the joint, and align them. Then, put the same joints on the body so that the legs can connect.

Step 4: Connect the Legs

This part will take kind of long, you will align and make the joints interlock. Then, if you want, you can print a prototype to find errors before we move on.

Step 5: Decorate the Mouth

Use this tool for fangs. I suggest like this.

Step 6: Decorate the Eyes

First, make something like this. Then, group it and squish it. Make different sizes, and make a pattern somewhat like this:

Step 7: (Optional) Container

So the abdomen of a spider is big, and in our model it uses a lot of filament. So, I chose to make a container with a lid. I think you should design it yourself!

Step 8: Printing

To print, I normally use an Bambu Lab X-1 Carbon. It works on whatever printer. I recommend you scale it up so that the joints actually work as joints.
