Introduction: An Instant Social Distancing Mask From Eyeglasses, Napkin and Tape.

Did you forget to bring your mask? No worries! If you have eyeglasses, a napkin and some tape, you're about three minutes from having a fairly decent mask. If you don't wear glasses, dig out those sunglasses. This won't harm them in any way, because this comes right off.

Step 1: Put the Tape on Your Glasses.

Put the tape on as shown, sticky side out. Any tape will do, scotch tape, masking tape, black tape. When you're done it will be under the mask, so no one can see it.

Step 2: Wrap the Tape Around the Bridge of Glasses

Wrap two or three turns of tape around the bridge, the center of the eyeglasses as shown, again being sure the sticky side is out, away from your face.

Step 3: Tape the Napkin Onto the Glasses

Find the center fold in the napkin, the main fold. Place the napkin on a surface, then lower the glasses onto the napkin so that the bridge of the glasses is on top of the main fold. Tack the sticky side of the tape to the napkin, then rub it a few times to secure the napkin to the tape.

Step 4: Gather the Napkin at Your Chin.

It doesn't have to be done in any particular way. This is how I do it. Just gather it around your nose and mouth for a fit that seems good to you.

Step 5: Tape the Gathered Napkin to Your Chin and Neck.

Stick a short piece of tape onto the bottom of your mask, with the tape pointed down, then tape the mask to your chin and throat as shown. This works for me. I've worn dust masks many, many times while working construction and believe this is about as good as any cheap mask. It's not N95, but it works.

When you're wearing it, periodically gather it and press it about your nose to improve the seal. You can tell your seal is fairly good when you can feel the mask drawing in toward your nose as you breath.

If you are going into a situation that requires more than a social distancing mask, then consider taping up both sides of the mask to improve the seal.

Step 6: Remove From Glasses by Unwinding.

When you're done socially distancing, simply take off your glasses and unwind the taped napkin from the center of your glasses. Easy!

Good luck and be safe.
