Android Tablet Case for 8" Tablet
Intro: Android Tablet Case for 8" Tablet
With the economy in a bad place, I can't afford a case for my android tablet (yes I know I wasted all my money on an android tablet).
I came up with case that cost about $5. If you have the stuff at home it may cost you less.
Materials:
1. Razors or scissors
2. Fabric (I used a pillow case) 40 in. x 40 in.
3. Needle and Thread or Sewing Machine
4. White colored pencil
5. Cardboard (18 in x 14 in.)
6. Ruler
7. Clothes Iron
STEP 1: Prep Your Fabric and Cut Your Cardboard
1. Iron your fabric it will make it easy to sew.
2. Once your finished ironing, cut your fabric to 10 in. x 30½ in.
3. Cut your cardboard into 2 pieces, both should be 8½ in. x 6 ¾ in.
STEP 2: Aligning Your Cover.
Lay your fabric out and place your 2 pieces of card board in the middle and fold the fabric over the cardboard to cover the cardboard. As shown in the picture.
STEP 3: Aligning the Other Side
STEP 4: Spine Width
As in the picture, you can just use your finger, all you are trying to do is make sure that the fabric is tight around your cardboard.
STEP 5: The Remaining Side Measurement
STEP 6: Marking Your Sewing Spots
Use your white colored pencil and mark the top and bottom of the case, but not the spine leave it blank.
STEP 7: Marking All the Spots
STEP 8: Now on to Sewing
That is why we didn't sew the spine together it makes it easier to take the cardboard out.
STEP 9: Making It Seamless
Now that you have finished sewing the sides and removed the card board flip the sides inside out putting all the stitches inside of the case. This will give it the look of seamless.
Put the cardboard back in to give it the shape of the case.
STEP 10: More Sewing
Now sew the the cardboard into the case for good. I couldn't do this with my machine so I did a healthy back stitch( just google how to back stitch.)
STEP 11: Time to Make the Straps
Once the spine is done, take the scrap fabric and make a long piece that is 12 in. x ½ in.
Then cut 2 strips that are 3 in. x ½ in.
As in the picture, this is one of the 3 in x ½ in. it's a little messy, when you do it take your time.
STEP 12: Adding Your Straps to Hold the Case
*Now get your white pencil and mark the places to sew your straps.
*Once you mark the spots just sew it there, it will take some time but you can do it.
STEP 13: Now Add the Straps to the Other Side
Now on the diagonal side of the tablet, sew the other strap on.
STEP 14: Your Done
Well that all there is to it. You can add more straps if you want to and you can mod this to make other cases for other pads.
As an added touch you can add pictures or designs. I added an android logo.
