Anti-Gravity Easter Egg Hunt (Perfect for Easter April 1st, 2018)

Are you tired of hiding Easter eggs in the same places every year? Did you ever wonder if gravity is bringing you down? Well here is the perfect answer to your problems, the anti-gravity Easter egg hunt!!

In this instructable I will provide a simple solution to the same old Easter egg hunt. This will encourage your kids to think and become creative to find a way to collect the Easter eggs from your ceiling. (For best results use the highest ceiling in the house)

Step 1: Collect Your Tools...

You will need the following items:

1) Plastic Easter eggs Caution: Real eggs are not recommended as you are fighting gravity

2) Your child's favorite candy (Or your child's not so favorite candy if you want to take it to the next level, may I suggest buttered popcorn jelly beans)

3) A 1x2 piece of lumber at a length that will allow you to reach the ceiling from the floor, as you will not be able to beat gravity, only the eggs will.

4) 3M double sided tape (Extremely usefull stuff, very strong and great to have around the house, but this is by far the best use I have found for it yet)

5) A paint scraper for removal of any of the tape that still is fighting gravity and wont let go of the ceiling at the end of the day.

6) Some masking/packing/duct tape to secure the scraper to the stick.

Step 2: Creating Your Anti-gravity Wand

Attach half of one of the plastic eggs to the end of the 1x2 lumber using the double sided sticky tape. The egg should be attached with the outside of the egg to the end of the stick. I also wrapped masking tape around the end of the 1x2 and the half egg shell to provide some additional stability. the This tool will allow you a means to transport the eggs to the ceiling.

Step 3: Filling the Eggs

You may need to consider the weight of the candy that you are filling the egg with to ensure that your eggs will not fall into the hands of gravity while being hunted. I suggest filling the egg and doing a test run on the egg to ensure that it will not fall.

Step 4: Removing Gravity From the Eggs

Cut the 3m tape into 1/4" x 1/4" squares. Attaching the squares to the side of the egg that will be connected to the ceiling of your home. (Do not remove the red backing from the other side of the tape until you are ready to attach it to the ceiling.)

Remove the red 3M tape backing and place the egg in your newly created anti-gravity wand.

Using your wand lift the egg to the ceiling and firmly press the egg onto the ceiling for about 10 seconds.

Carefully move the wand downward to ensure that the egg is attached to the ceiling.

Warning: If it is not firmly attached you may end up with egg on your face.

Caution: placing the eggs above or near breakables is not a good idea as eventually gravity will win and the egg is coming down. (Not to mention the tooling your children will create)

Repeat this process until you have all of your eggs on the ceiling. (It took me about an hour to do 20 eggs)

Step 5: Enjoy the Chaos

Watch as your children ponder the existence of gravity and how they will ever get to their candy!

Step 6: Cleanup

After the egg hunt is complete some 3M tape may still be attached to the ceiling of your home. At this point turn your anti-gravity wand over and tape the scraper on the opposite end of the wand from the egg attachment device. You will now get to enjoy the slow process of removing small pieces of tape from your ceiling.
