Introduction: Apple Crumb Pie in the Apple
These perfect sized apple crumb pies are so cute! Instead of the traditional pie in the pie tin, these little cutie-pies are baked in the apple. They are the perfect size for a snack or a personal dessert. The pies are quick and easy especially since the crust is a delicious crumb topping with brown sugar and cinnamon.
Mix some up for your next dessert....these Apple Crumb Pies in the Apple are sure to delight!
Step 1: Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon all purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 1/4 tablespoon flour
- 1/2 tablepoon brown sugar
- pinch of cinnamon
- pinch of nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 tablespoon butter, melted
Step 2: Making the Bowls
Wash the apple you are using and cut off a lid from each one. Use a small sharp knife and a small spoon, carve the apple to form a bowl. Chop up the innards of the apple for the filling. Dice the lid as well.
To make sure the apple "crust" (outside of the apple) doesn't get dark, add a few drops of lemon juice.
Step 3: Mixing the Filling
Mix all of the ingredients of the filling together. Add to the diced/chopped apple pieces and toss with a spoon. Pour the filling into the carved apple.
Step 4: Mixing and Baking
Mix all of the ingredients of the topping together and sprinkle onto the top of the filling. Bake at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 to 10 minutes.
Make as many or as few as you want! That is the beauty of this recipe. :) Not to mention these apples are so adorable and cute! Try the recipe out and leave a comment below.
(I promise to have better photos that reflect do these pies justice :)

What an inventive idea!! :) TIP: Use an ORGANIC apple.

Organic apples will definitely work better than plastic ones, which I find tend to be a bit chewy. However, you can save on the lemon juice with them.

I will definitely be doing this tomorrow night. I made a pan of apple crumb for Thanksgiving and didn't get any :(
There's still a large granny smith I didn't use so now I can make a personal batch with this recipe. I like to add oats to the mix.

Awwh :( Oats would probably work well too. Let me know how it went and thanks for the nice comment!
