Introduction: Arduino Light Show

Step 1: Parts

Here are the parts you will need to have this accomplished, where to find them, and what you will need out of them:

-Arduino UNO, MEGA, or DUO
  (Recommend MEGA) Link

-Radio Shack Sidekick Basic Kit Level one for Arduino
  From it you will need:
  -Breadboard (circuit board)
  -ALL Long wires and some short wires
  -20 2- leg LED lights

-Computer with Arduino Software and USB Cable

Step 2: Step 2: Insert LED on Outer Part

You will now start by taking the LED lights and separating them by color (10 of each).

Before we advance, I want to inform you of the difference of the positive and negative on the LED. The longer of the two is positive.

Start by placing 5 LEDs of the same color on one of the ends of the board with the + and - signs on it. Be sure to remember to put the longer in the positive. Then take another color and place 5 the same way on the other side of the board. When you are done, it should look like the picture shown




Step 3: Step 3: Insert Middle LEDs

Now one of the more difficult parts: Adding the LED in the center.
In the middle, Each numerical row is one circuit. Each LED will take up two numerical rows. It will be hard but look at the pictures for help with inserting them. Make sure to remember to face the positives in the same direction and label the pos and neg ends. 

Step 4: Step 4: Insert Negative Wires

Please look at the different figures of the breadboard to figure out how the wires go. Green wire is long and the rest are short

Step 5: Step 5: Insert Positive Wires

Pay CLOSE attention to the positive wire placement. They will be overlapping the LEDs and others but just pay attention where they plug in. They will all be BLUE but they may differ from your choice. Use the rest of your long wires and finish off with the small wires

Step 6: Step 6: Program Arduino

Now you will need to plug your Arduino into the USB cable coming from your computer. You will need one to communicate with your Arduino for any project. Message me if you need help finding one. 

You need to open the Arduino program and make sure it is blank. You will want to click the link below to copy and paste the code:

Download instructions:
1) Download the file.
2) Hit SAVE if prompted
3) Open the folder with the Arduino app in it and open your downloads folder in another window
4) Open the examples folder in Arduino folder
5) Drag the folder you downloaded into that folder
6) Right click it and click UNZIP
7) Now hit the back button to go back to the main screen and double click the Arduino app
8) After it opens, click File-Examples-sketch_dec26a
9) Plug Arduino in and hit the right arrow at the top known as UPLOAD

Step 7: Step 7: Test It Out!

Press the little reset button and watch your show dance the night away! If there is a problem that you cannot figure out, message me and I'll be glad to help
