Introduction: Arm Brace and Movement Assisst

This is a brace that can be used to help those with limited movement in their arms or legs. Though I recommend using stronger materials for the legs. I made this since there are people who may have conditions disabling them from using their limbs and this should help to rectify that by using tech to assist them. The materials are:


  • 3D Printer or Printing Service
  • Velcor
  • Suggested for continued development
    • 9V Battery
    • High Torque Motor
    • Controllers

Step 1: Printing

For our first step in building the base of our movement assist we will need a 3d printer. I used a Form 2 printer for this but you can use any you have. Alternatively, you can use an online printing service such as Shapeways who will print and send it to you. the whole print of all 3 files took around 3 hours and 30 minutes. The files for printing are attached, the gear file is made to fit on a 2mm rod and the files will be available at the end.

Step 2: Velcro Straps

This is pretty simple, get some velcro straps and hot glue. Attach the velcro straps with one of the straps facing downso it can attach successfully to the other strap. Hot Glue should work, a stronger adhesive, however, is advised.

Step 3: Files

These files are here available for your tinkering, you can use them to alter it for broader usage. While outside of my skill range, it can soon be used as an actual assisstant with a high torque motor and a accessable controller. The files are here for your editing and discretion.
