Introduction: Automatic Ping Pong Game
This is a ping pong game using motors to launch ping pong balls at you and you have to hit it in the holes. One person needs to be launching balls and the other person needs to be hitting the balls.
**** Note this is made by two sixth graders****
Step 1: Gather Materials
- Ping Pong Balls(4)
- 2 motors
- 2 arduino
- 2 breadboard
- Male to male wires
- F to m wires
- Power bank
- screws
- nailes
- wooden wheels(4)
- 19.5 x 12 x 0.5 (1)
- 12 x 3 x 0.5 (1)
- 12 x 4 x 0.5 (1)
- 6 x 3 x 0.5 (4)
- 7 x 2.9 x 0.5(2)
- 2 x 0.5 x 0.5 (4)
****Items 11-16 are in inches and can have any material****
Step 2: Make the Launching System
Grab the two motors and sauder (or use electric tape) one m to m wire on each of the metal prongs on the back of the motors, then attach a f to m wire on all the m to m wires. Now put two wooden wheels on each motor using a type of glue. Now get a 5.5 in x 1 in x 0.25 in piece of wood, glue the motors facing the same direction on the wood about 10 cm apart on the wood (using any type of glue). Make sure the wooden wheels are not touching the wood when you are gluing the motors on. Adjust the space on between the motors if the ball isn't launching properly. Grab your breadborad and put the arduino on it. Put the metal part form one of the wire that is sticking out on the 5v pin on the arduino and breadborad, then take the other wire and stick it in the ground pin (repeat the last two steps for the second motor). Now turn on both arduino to launch the balls.
Step 3: Make Walls
Get 2 of the 6 in x 3 in x 0.5 in and make slits on one end of each of them, big enough so the 7 in x 2.9 in x 0.3 in can slide in the slits. Once you have the slits made slide the 7 in x 2.9 in x 0.3 in into the wood , now you have one wall (repeat this whole process for the second wall).
Step 4: Set-up Base of the Ping Pong Game
Make 4 holes or squares that are are 2 inches in diameter or 2 inches long and 2 inches wide, make sure they are on the same end of the game board and keep a 0.7 inch gap between the hole and the end of the board .(make larger if balls don't fit). Put the 12 in x 4 in x 0.5 in piece on the same side of the game board . Then add the 12 in x 3 in x 0.5 in piece on top of the 12 in x 4 in x 0.5 in. After that take your one wall and slide it under the little roof you have made on the side of the game board, connect the roof and the wall (repeat this step for the second wall). Flip the game board over and put the 2 x 0.5 x 0.5 pieces on each corner of the game board. Now you have a game board.
Step 5: Add Motor to Game
Simply put hold the motor on the roof of the game board.
Step 6: Play Game
If the ball isn't launching properly try launching at an angle
