Introduction: Awesome Ruffle Undies
Ruffle Undies based on the tutorial done by Clare Bare for Threadbanger.
I used my own pattern but it's really easy to make one :) I took an hour to make them but it's only cuz I had issues with the pattern, it should take about 30-40 min.
You'll need:
Fabric
Elastic
Sewing Machine
Bows / ribbon / lace or whatever floats your boat
Step 1: Place and Pin
First place and pin your pattern onto the fabric you wanna use..remember to fold the fabric in half if your pattern is like mine!
Step 2: Cut It Out
Then just cut it out and remember to leave enough seam allowance. (I'm not sure what the seam measurements were, I just eye-balled it)
Step 3: Sew Sew Sew
Put your pieces right sides together and sew the crotch area with a straight stitch. This is what it should look like when you're done.
Step 4: One HUGE Pair of Undies
Then sew the sides together with a straight stitch and you have one freaking HUGE pair of undies (don't panic, it's supposed to look that way) The more material you have extra, the more ruffles you are going to have.
(I used a zigzag stitch to keep my edges from fraying because the check material tends to do that)
Step 5: Stretch It Baby!
Take your elastic and pull it taught as you sew it onto your seam with a zigzag stitch (on the wrong side of your underwear of course!) You must must must remember to pull it as you sew, otherwise the fabric isn't going to bunch up. Repeat the same step for both the leg holes and the waistband.

I might have to make a set for my wife. I think she'd find it amusing.

That would actually be brilliant.

They are adorable! What kind of fabric did you use?

This was a type of cotton, but I've made them with different kinds of fabric and they all came out pretty well, though softer fabrics tend to work and feel better :)
