Introduction: BF Dog Treats

Do you throw away the fat after cooking bacon? No need to anymore! Here is a great way to use it to make delicious treats for your dog. With just a few other kitchen staples, you will have two dozen treats your dog will love just like mine does!

Supplies

Ingredients:

¼ cup melted bacon fat (reserved after cooking 6-8 strips of bacon)

1 large egg

½ cup milk

¼ cup water

2 tablespoons peanut butter

¼ teaspoon salt

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, divided use

Supplies:

large parchment-lined baking sheet

wooden spoon

mixing bowl

small bowl

2-inch diameter glass

Step 1: Heat Oven

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, stir first six ingredients plus 2 ¼ cups flour with a wooden spoon until smooth.

Step 3: Roll and Shape Dough

Place remaining 1/4 cup flour in a small bowl. Use hands to roll dough into 1 1/ 2-inch balls. Place balls 2-inches apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Dip bottom of a 2-inch diameter glass into flour and use it to flatten balls to ¼-inch thick rounds, dipping into flour between each pressing.

Step 4: Bake Treats

Bake for 28-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely.   Place in a covered container and store in refrigerator. Makes 2 dozen 2-inch treats.

Step 5: Notes

The dough may be made 2-3 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator. My dog is a medium-large dog, so feel free to adjust the size of the treats according to the size of your dog.
