Introduction: Baby Grand Piano Bookshelf

About: Redesigned Frame Of Mind, owner. I make "New Funk From Old Junk"! I am a Repurposer, upcycler, engineer, picker, artist, but mostly a professional ponderer!

We cut the body of a Baby Grand horizontally and turned it into a bookshelf.

Supplies

  1. Baby Grand Piano, Jig saw, plywood, paint, (2) 8' x 1" x 6" boards, drill, screws

Step 1:

measure the width you want for the outside shell of the bookcase and make cut with a jigsaw - we used tape to protest the finish

Step 2:

trace out shape and cut plywood to fit as a back of the bookcase.

Step 3:

Once back is screwed on, measure and cut your vertical piece. This is what you attach your selves to.

Step 4:

Measure, cut and add shelves, screwing from the sides and from the back

Step 5: Adding Legs (optional)

We used legs from a discarded coffee table, that happened to be a great match. It also gave us the space under the middle to reuse secure the foot pedals.
