Ballistic Pipe

Introduction: Ballistic Pipe

Broken Nerf gun? No problem. Launch your Nerf darts with Canyon's Ballistic Pipe!

Step 1: Parts

  • Air Compressor Blow Gun
  • 1/2" PVC ~12"
  • Rubber Stopper w/Hole
  • Compressor Hose Fittings
  • Nerf or Homemade Safety Dart
  • Air Compressor

Step 2: Attach Blow Gun to Pipe

Our blow gun had a narrow nozzle that we were able to press firmly into the hole in the rubber stopper. The rubber stopper then gets a little household oil for lubrication before being forced into the 1'2" PVC.

Step 3: Attach the Blow Gun 1/4" Interchange Connector

Ours uses industrial interchange connectors. Make sure to use PTFE tape or equivalent. We test built without out it and air leaked badly. We also discovered the tapered nozzle of the air gun leaked. Duct tape to the rescue! Afterwards, the air did not leak. Check your connections and make sure there are no leaks.

Step 4: Add a Safety Dart

Step 5: Ready... Aim...

Fire :)

(Rock Tree Sky is a self-directed makerspace for unschool and public homeschool students. Canyon's project is a typical example of the maker ethic alive and well in our youth!)
