Hello my name is Steven Ryan. Some machines can be overwhelming at first but I'm here to explain how to operate a vertical tilt band saw. it may look like there are a lot of things needed to know but its simpler than one might think. I'm going to explain the five essential steps to startup and operate a vertical band saw. soon you will have the confidence in this new skill.

Step 1: PPE and Visual Inspection

Make sure to have all required PPE. Power on the saw and allow the hydraulics to warm up. During this time do a visual inspection to insure that there is nothing in the way of the shuttle or that nothing is broken. Make sure that there is nothing in the shuttle path. you don't want anything to damage what moves your material for you.

Step 2: Step 2: Upper and Lower Limits

now that the saw is ready for first we will set the upper and lower limits. This can be done in the in the calibration menu. To set the upper and lower limits run the blade guides completely up and down. this is needed so that when you tell the saw how tall your material is it knows where to set the guide.

Step 3: Step 3: Shuttle Calibration

Now we calibrate the shuttle. the shuttle is a moving part so be sure that there is nothing in its path. There is a safety feature that can prevent unforeseen crashes. there is a blue button right under the monitor that engages and allows the shuttle to move. it needs to be on for the shuttle to move. To calibrate, the shuttle needs to move to its absolute zero point. This is the furthest point from the saw. Press the shuttle calibration button and it will automatically do this and reset itself.

Step 4: Step 4: Squareing the Blade

This is perhaps the most important step in the calibration. The blade needs to be straight up and down (or square) to make a straight cut. In the calibration menu run the blade to about the middle of your table and put 24 inch square against it. The blade should line up evenly with the edge of the blade. If it is not tilt the blade left or right on the calibration menu until it is. once this is done reset the tilt angle to zero and the blade is square.

Step 5: Step 5: Test Cut

now that the calibration is finished the last thing to do is a test cut. this can be done with any kind of material at any length. once you give the saw all the required information it will make the cuts to your specifications. onces its finished cutting measure the part to make sure that all the measurements you programed came out on the part. most places will allow for a 16th +/- tolerance. if everything is correct you ready to start your day.
