Introduction: Baseball Dice Game

This is a fun game that I came up with. The best thing about this game is that everyone should already have all of the necessary pieces to play somewhere in their house.

Step 1: Step 1: Gather Supplies

2 six sided die

1 piece of paper

1 pencil

4 pawns (I have used change like dimes, quarters, etc.)

Step 2: Setup

Draw a baseball diamond with 4 bases and a scoreboard.

Step 3: Rules

Step 1. Both teams roll to see who goes first. Higher roll wins.

Step 2. Pitcher rolls one die first. Batter rolls their die after. If the pitcher’s number is higher it’s a strike, if it’s the same number it’s a ball, and if the batter’s number is higher it’s a hit.

Step 4: Hit

On a hit the batter rolls their die first, followed by the fielding team. If the batters number is higher they advance a base. If the fielding team's number is higher it’s an out. A tie goes to the runner. If the batter rolls a 6 and the fielding team rolls a 1 it’s a home run.

Step 5: Runner on Base

Once a runner is on base it is up to the batting team if they would like to try and advance another base or have another hitter. If the batting team chooses to advance a base on a hit the batter rolls their die first, followed by the fielding team. If the batters number is higher they advance a base. If the fielding teams number is higher it’s an out. A tie goes to the runner.

Step 6: More Hitting

If the batting team chooses to have another hitter follow the previous rules.

Step 7: Outs

After 3 outs switch sides and continue following the rules stated before.

Step 8: Winning

After 3 outs switch sides and continue following the rules stated above. After nine innings the player with the higher score wins.

Step 9: Teachable Moments

While the basics of the game are very simple there are lessons for all level of students.

For elementary students it is a simple counting game.

For middle school students it has a strategy and graphing element that can be taught.

For high school students there is a statistics lesson.
