Maintaining perfect teeth is important for a number of reasons. Mainly because of their role in the preparation of food, which is chewed into smaller bits, so that it is easier to digest. Their function does not stop there, as teeth are an important tool for speech production, and because it is more aesthetically pleasing to see someone with a nice set of teeth, than someone with a tooth missing.

Is it possible to have perfect teeth? Well, it all depends on your genetics, and what you were born with, but it also depends on the amount of money that you have at your disposal and finding the right dentist, but in general, you can have whatever teeth you like.

Step 1: Clean Your Teeth

Teeth require constant help in staying clean and bacteria free, and you can do that by brushing your teeth at least twice a day, in the morning, and before you go to bed. In a perfect world, you’d be brushing your teeth after every meal, so that there is no food residue left in your mouth that the bacteria could feed on. But, you can at least rinse with ordinary water - that will remove most of the sugar from your mouth, until you get home. Flossing is also important, as it can clean the space between the teeth and will prevent periodontal pockets from appearing. Mouthwash products are also extremely good, and they will kill off any bacteria that aren’t supposed to be there, and will refresh your breath.

Step 2: Careful What You Eat

Some foods that contain a lot of sugar are dangerous if left in your mouth for a longer period of time, so sticky candy, lollipops and soda drinks are a big no. While fruits and vegetables are a much healthier solution, they contain sugars, too, so it would be a good thing to rinse even after an apple, or a carrot. Wine, berries, and beet are among the most notorious food that can change the color of your teeth from a healthy yellowish color, to a darker hue. This, of course, does not mean that you should not eat those. You should, but only in moderation, as it can be very healthy for you. Try and stay away from soda drinks, which have a lot of acids in them, and sugars, which give them that specific taste, because those are empty calories, meaning they have no vitamins or minerals, and can only cause obesity.

Step 3: Visit Your Dentist Frequently

No one likes going to the dentist, usually because people associate them with pain and uncomfortable situations, but if you visit your dentist regularly, there is no need to fear. They will try and prevent major problems from occurring in the first place, and will be able to check if everything is in order. It is much better to repair a small problem, than to let it fester into something that will be much harder to deal with later on. Your dentist will give you additional tips on keeping your teeth and gums healthy, and they might even have some personalized recommendations for you. You might need your teeth readjusted, or they might recommend wisdom tooth extraction, if there is no place in the jaw for it.

Step 4: Whiten Your Teeth

When your teeth are good and healthy, you might want to think about having them whitened. This will improve the way you feel about them, and it will increase your confidence. When choosing the best method, we recommend in-office whitening. That way, a professional will be present there, to use the strongest chemicals needed for the best effect. Usually, it is in the form of a gel that is applied to the teeth, while the gums are being protected by another substance. Then that gel is activated by light, and after two or more visits, your teeth will change to a much brighter hue. If you want, you can try whitening with an over-the-counter solution, like whitening strips, which can also provide you with good results, but, remember that if you have any fillings in the front teeth, they will need to be changed.
