Introduction: Bike Stand

I made a bike stand since the plastic one that my brother bought from Amazon is about to break I figured that why not make a bike stand that is sturdier than the plastic one from Amazon? So that is what I did, I wanted to make one that was quick, easy, and cheap. I did not want to make it fancy I just wanted to have something that could hold up a bike.

Supplies

2 1 x 1, 3 feet long wood strips

2 2 x 1, 1 ft wood strips.

4 10x3" wood screws

Step 1: Cutting Out the Pieces

Cut out 1x1 strips from a 2x12 piece of wood to have the main components.

then cut out another 1x1 strip of wood to cut out the end pieces for where the tire will sit.

Step 2: Making the End Pieces

I felt like the stand needed end pieces so I made some using the leftover wood from the strip.

the end pieces are 4 inches long.

Step 3: Assembly

So what I did first was I adjusted the width of the holder so the wheel could go into the holder but not so loose that the bike would not stand.

I placed the legs or the pieces that keep the bike and stand perpendicular so when the bike is on the stand the bike and stand will not fall. I lined it up so it can be semi-straight.

I then pre-drilled the holes on the bottom of the legs so the screws and holes aren't visible so it looks much cleaner.

I then put wood screws into the holes.

Overall, my design can be improved upon but I just wanted to make something quickly. Additionally, adjustable legs could be a valuable addition to my design, which would make the stand more versatile and easier to use on different rim and tire bike setups. I could also be using stronger and more durable materials instead of wood.
