breadboards (3)

cathode 7 segment displays (13)

1kohm resistors

220ohm resistors

4 pin dip switches (2)

5 volt power supply

1 pin dip switch (1)

Step 1:

Start with dip switches, adder IC, and 7 segment display. Use 220 ohm resistors with 7 segment display and 1kohm resistors with dip switches.

Step 2:

Begin wiring the chips in the middle breadboard and the 7 segment displays on the bottom breadboard before they are connected. All resistors being used here are 1kohm.

Step 3:

Add wires (black) to 3 chips in center. All resistors here are 220ohm.

Step 4:

Wire 7 segment displays (red wire). All resistors here are 220ohm.

Step 5:

Wire switch (blue wire) and use a 1k resistor for this. Add four diodes to the dip switch (not shown). Connect pin 3 to pin 1 with the first diode and connect pin 3 to pin 2 with the second diode. Do this for both dip switches. It is not shown on the drawing.
