Introduction: Book Box

This is a Book Box made out of chip board and card stock.

Step 1: Make the Cover of Your Book Box

Cut a piece of good quality card stock to 8 x 10 3/4 inches (see photo 1 ). Cut 2 pieces of chip board to 4 x 7 inches and one piece of chip board to 11/2 x 7 inches.(seen in photo 2 )

Step 2: Attach Chip Board to Card Stock

I like to start by drawing a half inch line down one of the 8 inch sides and one of the 10 3/4 sides. This helps to keep the chip board straight . Line the first pc. of 4 x 7 chip board up to the half inch marks and glue in place. Next glue two scrap pieces of the chip board together. This will be your shim . The next piece to add is the 1 1/2 x 7 inch spine.

Line up the bottom of the spine with the half inch line , place the shim in between the two pieces of chip board for spacing ( see photo 1) , glue in place. Place shim on the other side of the spine piece and repeat with the last piece of chip board. Trim the four corners of card stock .( see photo 2 ) .You will have a half inch strip of the card stock on all four sides . Use glue or score tape to wrap the card stock on to the chip board and glue in place.

Step 3: Add Liners to the in Side

Cut two pieces of the same card stock to 3 3/4 x 6 3/4 and one piece of card stock to 1 1/2 x 6 3/4 . Glue to the inside of the cover. (shown in photo 1)

Step 4: Make the Foe Pages

Cut two pieces of card stock to 6 1/2 x 9 inches and two pieces of card stock to 3 3/4 x 9 inches. (see photo 1 )

With the 9 inch turned to the top (as seen in photo 1 ) score every 1/2 inch. Do that to all four pieces.

Accordion fold all of the 1/2 inch score marks . I like to use a clip on each end to keep the fold in place.

Take one of the 6 1/2 x 9 pieces and one of the 3 3/4 pieces and weave together to form a corner (see photo 2 ,3 and 4).Use a clip to hold in place. Do this with all pieces until it forms a rectangle

Lift the top flap ,add a dot of glue and glue flap in place. (see photo 6) Do this to the top and then the bottom corners.

Your assembled piece should look like the image in ( photo 7).

Step 5: Add the Decorative Paper and Accordion Folded Pages

Choose decorative papers and cut two pieces at 3 3/4 x 6 3/4 inch . Glue in place.

Glue the accordion piece in place, off setting it to line up to the center fold (see photo 4 )

Step 6: Add Decorative Paper to Out Side of Box

Cut 2 pieces at 3 3/4 x 6 3/4 inch and 1 piece at 1 1/2 x 6 3/4 inch for the spine glue in place {see photo 1)

Add ribbon around out side of box and tie in place (see photo 2)

Step 7: Time to Decorate !

I covered two chip board corners with gesso (see photo1 ) . When that dried I inked them with Distress Ink ( see photo 2 ). Glue the chip board corners in to place.

I took some of my favorite embellishments from my stash and glued to the cover.

Step 8: All Done !

This is my finished Book Box ! I hope you give it a try , your only limited by what you can think of :)
