Introduction: Bookends With an Old Sewing Machine!!
This time I want to show you how to recycle an old sewing machine using it as a bookend.
The project is simple but the result is very original. As you will see I have done it all with hand-tools making it maybe a bit more laborious especially when cutting the machine since it is a very hard metal!!
Here you have a VIDEO so that you can see step by step how I did it.

Awesome project! What is the purpose of using the water to soak the wood?

My grandmother's machine quit when my mom was a girl. My grandmother took it completely apart, cleaned the parts, and put it back together. It worked like new.

That's worked out really well. Pains me a little to see a Singer chopped in half, but I'll get over it :-p

I understand you but in this case that it didn't work and it wasn't mine I think that it's different!! Thanks for your comment

Totally get that, much better to be re-used in an imaginative way than to just rot in a pile of trash.

I have the same sewing machine. It was my grandma's and I heard that story that they were digging it undergroung to hide from germans during WW2. And it still works perfrctly. I believe, you had your own reasons to do so with yours, but it's hard for me to watch.

This sewing machine it wasn't mine. Always that I can, I do my projects with stuff that I find and recycling it. I found this machine in the bin with a lot of missing pieces, obviously it didn't work. I do understand that your case is different, because of the sentimental value for you. Thanks for your comment!
