Introduction: Bottomless Portafilter Conversion for Gaggia Classic

How to convert an old Gaggia Classic portafilter to a bottomless one.

Supplies

  1. 60 mm OD hole saw and suitable drill
  2. Piece of scrap wood
  3. Wood screws

Step 1:

Mount the portafilter on a piece of scrap wood, level it with a screw. Make sure it doesn't move, mounted as tight as possible.

Step 2:

Carefully drill out the bottom using the circular saw. Make sure the pilot drill hits exact center of the portafilter bottom. Apply finishing touches with a file.
