Introduction: Bouncing Captain America Shield

I wanted to make a Captain America Shield One day but I wanted to do something new with it. Then I came up with the idea to make it actually do what it does in the movie’s: Bounce I found an instructable for a cardboard captain america shield. This was perfect for what I was trying to make so I used it as a foundation. All credit for early designs goes to him: https://www.instructables.com/Flying-Captain-America-Shield/

Supplies

For this project you will need:

A Large (preferably double ply) sheet of cardboard.

Red, White and Blue Duct tape. (Normal silver ish aswell)

Hula Hoop Just Barely bigger than your shield.

Rubber bands. (Red)

Scissors

Paper

Hot glue gun

Alot of patience.

Step 1: Cutting

Get your piece of cardboard and make 20 individual piece's using the long triangle in the attached pdf. These 20 pieces will need to be cut and then slightly curved

Ive attached some pictures from Seamsters inscrutable to give you a better example of mine.

Step 2: Glue the Triangle

Glue the 20 pieces together and make sure while your doing to keep the curvature there of it will end up being flat.

I also added some light paper tape as seen in the photo but that isnt necessary.

Step 3: Adding Duct Tape

Now add the silver ish normal duct tape to the back of the shield and completely cover it.

This will not only make it look like metal. It will also add some extra support.

Also over the shield front completely in red and then use the same pdf as before to cut out the different parts of the shield. Such as the white ribbon the star and its blue background.

Step 4: Attaching the Hula Hoop

Now cut 20 individual hole all around the shield that are equally spaced apart from each other.

Then get your hula hoop and completley cover that in red duct tape.

Cut the rubber bands and so they are just rubber strings and pull them through the hole.

Then simpley tie them in a knot then cover it with tape.

Make sure when you are tie on the rubber bands to do next the rubber band in an opposite locaation to the one you just did.
