Introduction: Braided
Braided lamp is created from tissue, silk and crepe paper with a unique feminine lighting design. As the light passes through the lampshade refraction occurs with a beam of light passing through the paper and outlining different shades.
Supplies
- Tissue paper 1 or 2 rolls (e.g. rose and green);
- Silk paper;
- Crepe paper (light colors e.g. yellow, beige, orange);
- Sewing kit;
- Fitter (frame that attaches lampshade);
Step 1:
Roll out the paper, cut in two slices and crumple. Tie the end of the thread and sew the edges, keep it at least half an inch apart.
Step 2:
Start braiding, loosen if it’s too tight for better light filtering. Add new slices by starting line breaks from a different length (or sew it together if needed).
Step 3:
Attach the braid to the bottom of the fitter with a thin sewing thread. Leave some parts unattached to adjust the lampshade form later. Keep adding the braids and sew the cross lines of the grid. Don’t give up.
Step 4:
Depending on the accessibility of the fitter leave the last round unattached on top.
