Introduction: Braided Nutella Bread
This bread has become my new favorite. Wow! It tastes so good! The bread has a lovely crispy top, which goes perfect with the soft fluffy center. The Nutella makes it the perfect sweet treat. The recipe can also be split in half to make a smaller loaf. This recipe can also be found at gardengirlrecipes.com.

Ingredients
½ teaspoon yeast
1 cup + 1 tablespoon warm water
2½ cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
½ cup Nutella
1 egg, beaten
cornmeal for dusting
Step 1: Combine Yeast and Water
Combine the yeast and 1 cup water. Let sit for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Combine Flour, Salt, and Sugar
In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.
Step 3: Combine Yeast Mixture With Flour Mixture
Add the yeast mixture and mix on low with a dough hook attachment until the dough begins to form. Increase the speed by one and knead for 7-10 minutes.
Step 4: Shape Dough
Shape into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm area for 1½ to 2 hours or until the dough has doubled in size.
Step 5: Roll Dough
On a floured work surface, form the dough into a rectangle shape.
Step 6: Spread Nutella
Spread Nutella in an even layer on the surface, leaving a ½ inch border of dough.
Step 7: Roll, Slice, and Twist Dough
Roll the dough, slice it in half lengthwise, twist the ends to connect, and braid turning the cut side toward the top.
Step 8: Prepare for Baking
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and sprinkle the cornmeal. Place the braided dough on top and cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let sit 20-30 minutes.
Step 9: Apply Egg Wash
Preheat oven to 350°F and mix the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to make the egg wash.
Step 10: Apply Egg Wash
Brush the dough with the egg wash.
Step 11: Bake
Bake for the bread for 20 minutes. Then raise the temperature to 425°F and bake for another 5 minutes to lightly brown the top.

Nice one. Why do we need egg wash? What can the egg substituted with?

The egg wash makes it shiny with a nice golden color. You don't have to use the egg wash if you don't want to. I have also used just milk as a substitute for the egg wash.

Would it work with just melted chocolate? It looks good but im not quite fond of adding sugar to something if i already added nutella ^^'

The sugar is for the dough. It gives it flavor. If you don't want to use it, you can omit it. It's only 1 tablespoon. If you wanted to replace the Nutella with chocolate, you could. You can pretty much fill the rolled out dough with anything you wanted.

It is a very pretty looking loaf and I love that you used Himalayan salt. Nutella may taste good but you really need to read the ingredients list. I am going to try your technique as It gives me an idea for a cinnamon-walnut-raisoin loaf.

You can also make Nutella at home using hazelnuts and other good ingredients :) It's not as sweet but still yummy!

I love this recipe. I want to help others understand it better. In
step 7, I'm pretty sure that when you say "slice it in half" you're
talking about slicing it in half lengthwise.
Thank you for sharing this 'able!
