Introduction: Brass Hammer

Hello everybody!

Today I made a brass hammer using a scrap brass piece and an old hammer handle.

Step 1: Materials

Materials used in this project:

Scrap brass:

lenght 6cm (2.4 inches)

Diameter: 3cm (1.2 inches)

Handle:

Lenght: 28cm

Step 2: Facing the Hammerhead

I faced the brass on the lathe at 400RPM, then I polished it with 80, 120, 240, 600 and finally 1500 grit sandpaper.

Step 3: Drilling the Hole

After polishing i drilled the hole carefully to not scratch the surface. Drill was 10mm wide (0.4 inches).

Step 4: Wedge and Finish

After the fitting the brass onto the handle, I made a small cut on top of the handle and hammered the wedge in. After I had done that I cut off the excess wood from the wedge. On top of that i also applied the oil finish on the handle.

Step 5: Finished Product

I enjoyed making this fun project, this hammer will prove me really useful I am most likely going to use it for chiseling.

If you decide to make this hammer have fun!
