Introduction: Burn the Candle at Both Ends

Would it be possible to to actually burn the candle at both ends? Yes! but it gives a bit of a mess. The candle will drip a lot, so I need something to catch the hot wax.

CAUTION!

Do not leave the candle burning unattended! If you leave it burning, this construction will probably burn your house down!

Step 1: You Will Need

Materials:

  • Acrylic material
  • 2 tiles
  • a candle

Tools:

  • Lasercutter (or makerspace)
  • fire
  • blunt knife

Step 2: Measure

Measure the tiles. My tiles are 98 x 98 mm.

Measure the candle. Mine is 220 mm.

Step 3: Cut the Candle

To get a wick on both ends, you will need to remove some candle from the bottom. If you use a blunt knife, this is very easy and you won't cut through the wick.

Step 4: Engrave the Tile

Just for fun, I engraved one of the tiles with the text: 'Yes, I burn the candle at both ends'

Step 5: Cut the Candle Holder

Cut the candle holder from 3 mm acrylic. If your tiles are not exactly the same size, you will need to adjust the files.

Step 6: Put the Candle Holder Together

It is easy to slide the 4 parts together and add the tiles.

Step 7: Just Add Candle

Just put your candle on the holder and light both ends.

Be careful! this candle will drip... A lot!
