Introduction: Butter Tub Lamp
I decided I didn't want to simply recycle my old butter tub, but wanted to figure out something to do with it. So, here it is...simple process that should take no more than an hour or so, and you will have a new, low wattage lamp.
What you will need:
(1) Butter Tub, empty and washed out
(1) PVC extension (1 1/4" x 6")
(1) Pull chain bulb holder
An old power cable from another deceased electronic device
Electrical tape
Length of spare wire(no longer than 6")
An old lamp shade

Step 1: Making Way for the PVC
Using the Pvc pipe as a template, cut a hole in the lid, making it as close to center as possible
Step 2: Prepare the PVC
At the top of the PVC pipe, drill a hole to allow for the pull chain to pass through.
I managed to do this via the "boring out" method, but could see the use and ease a drill would bring to this step.
Also, make a notch in the base of the PVC pipe to allow the power cable to go underneath. The notch does not have to be very big, and you should veryify the size vice the power cord prior to securing the pvc in place.

Step 3: "Install" Power Cord
In that the power cord was from another electrical device, it had the stop tab already one it...I simply cut a hole slighty small than the size of the plug, and pushed the edges into the "retaining area" of the plug...this holds it in place without trouble.
Step 4: Place the PVC Pipe
Put the pvc pipe in place in the tub and secure via electrical tape, duct tape, hot glue, super glue...whatever you would like.
Step 5: The Lid and Wiring
Place the lid back on the tub by running the pvc pipe through the hole previously created.

There are 2 wires on your input power, and 2 hook-ups on the bulb holder.

Step 6: Finalizing
Simply push the pull chain through the hole in the top of the pvc, and feed excess wire into the tube as well...there was no need to secure the bulb holder, in that the bulb holder is wedged in place.
Now, put the lamp shade on, install a 10w halogen and enjoy the loving new light!
