Introduction: CAD a D8

The goal of this instructable is to CAD a D8 with only 1 parameter

Supplies

CAD Software, I use OnShape as it is free

Step 1: Make a Square

  1. Make a Square whose center is on the origin and the points are on the axis of the other planes
  2. Add your one dimension to say how big the square is
  3. Add a construction line from the constrained point down along the "Right" plane
  4. Make the construction line be equal (same length as) the side of the square

Step 2: Find the Top and the Bottom

  1. Make a construction circle whose radius is the height of the square
  2. Make two construction lines from one point to the edge of the circle
  3. The lines should end on the front plane, above and below the origin

Step 3: Loft

  1. Loft the base square to both the top and the bottom points found

Step 4: Finish!

You now have a "blank" D8!
