The CPU is the central processing unit of the computer. It computes different processes as it says in the name and it also communicates with other parts. It takes in input and other processes then does the main computing. After this it sends 1s and 0s to the other parts to tell them what to do.

Step 1: CPU Problems and Diagnostics

Common problems with the CPU that affect computer functions include:

Over heating
Thermal paste issues
Bent pins
Broken CPU fan

Diagnostics: the common symptoms

No image when turning on the computer
Boots up but shutdowns randomly
Will boot up but tell you "no CPU fan detected"

Common Fixes

Replacing thermal paste
If pins are bent then replace CPU
If fan does not spin replace fan

Step 2: How to Get to the CPU

If you believe that your CPU is causing you issues. First you will have to get to the CPU.

First you will want to unplug your CPU fan
Next remove your CPU cooler
Lift the leaver holding down the CPU
Carefully remove the CPU from the holder
Be careful not to bend any pins\
If you notice a bent pin that is your issue

Step 3: Thermal Paste Applacation

First you will want to remove the current thermal paste.
1. Do this with a micro fiber cloth
2. Apply rubbing alcohol to it
3. Then rub the paste off
Next to apply thermal paste
1. Place the CPU back into the socket
2. Make sure you align the special corner with the marked corner on the socket
3. Then push the arm down
4. Next put a small dot on the CPU
5. Then place back down the CPU cooler
6. Make sure you plug in the CPU fan
