Introduction: Candy Apples
Six years ago I went on a third date which fell on Halloween night. We went to a Murder Mystery Night Dinner, and for dessert they served Candy Apples. Since then I went on to marry my date who is now my husband.
Every time I see a Candy Apple I think of that special night.
This recipe makes between 4-6 Candy apples depending on the size. I like to choose medium.
Supplies
4- 6 Apples. I like to use Spartan
2 cups of White Sugar
1/2 cup of Water
1/2 tsp of White Vinegar
1/2 tsp Red Food Colouring or to the shade you prefer.
4-6 Cookie Sticks
Parchment Paper
Step 1: Your Tools
- Candy thermometer
- Medium size pot
- Wooden spoon or rubber spatula
- Parchment paper
- 2 cup measure
- 1/2 cup liquid measure
- 1/2 tsp measurement
- Cookie/baking sheet
Step 2: The Prep Work
- Line your baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper.
- Wash your apples in warm water. This will remove any wax that is on the apple.
- Let your apples dry.
- Using the cookie sticks, stick one into each apple.
Step 3: The Recipe
- 2 cups of White Sugar
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/2 tsp of white vinegar
- 1/2 tsp of red food colour or the shade you prefer.
- Place all ingredients into medium saucepan.
Step 4: Cooking
- Place the pot onto medium heat.
- Do Not Stir. Allow the mixture to cook independently.
- Place your Candy thermometer into the mixture.
- Cook until the temperature until it reaches 300*F - the hard crack stage.
- Remove from the heat.
Step 5: Time to Take a Dip.
- Carefully tip the saucepan while you dip an apple into the red candy mixture.
- Turn the apple side to side to coat well.
- Lift the apple straight out of the pan as you lower the saucepan so it sits flat.
- Twist the apple side to side to remove any excess.
- Place the apple onto the prepared baking sheet.
Step 6: Time to Enjoy.
- Allow the apples to dry before consuming.
- Enjoy this Halloween treat.

Dear Penolopy,
Thank you for all of your help. I found the rest of my instructable, it was accidentally deleted during prof- reading. It should all be there now.
