Introduction: Candy Bar Brownies

About: Community Manager for Instructables and Tinkercad.

Candy bar brownies combine delicious brownies and caramel, with tasty mini candy bars. This super chocolatey treat is hard to pass up!

For the fifth year in a row, trick-or-treaters did not come to my house :( And, for the fifth year in a row I had a huge bag of candy left over. Instead of just chowing down on the chocolate bars, I decided to try something different. I mixed up some of these leftover bars with brownie mix, topped it with caramel, and ended up with a delicious dessert.

Step 1: Supplies

What you need will kind of depend on what you have :)

Supplies:

  • Brownie mix of choice (I used a box one) + ingredients to make brownies
  • Candy bars - below is how many I used, but feel free to use as many or as few as you want

    • 3 fun size Twix
    • 7 fun size Snickers
    • 5 fun size Milky Way
    • 5 fun size bags M&Ms - for on top
  • Caramel Sauce - optional

You can also use a few whole candy bars if you don't have the mini ones sitting around

Suggested Combinations:

  • Snickers + Milky Way + Twix + 3 Musketeers
  • Recess Peanut Butter Cup + Butterfingers
  • Twix + Kit Kat + Crunch Bar
  • M&M + Peanut M&M + Snickers
  • EVERYTHING

Step 2: Mix Up Brownies

Time to mix up your brownies!

Once the brownies are mixed, you can throw in your candy bars. I chose to cut mine up into pieces first, but you don't have to. I suggest you do though.

Put in a pan and bake!

It took longer to bake than the suggested time on the box, but I would still start there and then add time if you need too.

Step 3: Toppings

I decided I wanted M&M's and caramel sauce on top of my brownies.

I smashed up my M&M's in a bag because I didn't want whole ones on top of the brownies. For some reason it just didn't feel as nice-looking to me.

I made jessyratfink's caramel sauce . My sugar, must have been dark sugar because it came out, well, dark. You can also use store-bought if you want; thicker is probably better.

Step 4: Top Your Brownies!

Time to top your brownies! I put everything on while it was still hot in the pan. This caused the M&M's to get soft on top and I liked it that way. The caramel also kind of helps hold on the M&M's so I put that on first.

There are so many holes in my brownies because I kept taking them out to check them and they were never done! And I couldn't find toothpicks, so I used skewers.

Step 5: Enjoy!

Eat up your brownies! They're pretty awesome.
