Caprese skewers are the perfect party food for any occasion. You can't go wrong with tiny tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella balls  - it's a salad on a stick!  They're so easy to make and fun to eat, you'll be looking for reasons to make them.  Why wait for a party?  They're a perfect treat to keep the family happy while dinner's on its way.

Step 1: Ingredients

All you need are some tiny tomatoes, fresh basil, and little mozzarella balls and fresh basil.  If you can't find the little ones, just chop up what you have into bite sized pieces!
If you're feeling fancy, you can add a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and/or balsamic vinegar at the end.

Step 2: Preparation

Rinse your tomatoes really well.  I also like to rinse and salt the mozzarella, but that's entirely up to you.
Clean your basil, and trim the leaves if necessary.

Step 3: Put It on a Stick!

Get yourself some fancy toothpicks and start assembling.
There's no wrong way to skewer your caprese, so go wild!  It's great to get kids and party guests involved too.  Everyone has a great time with caprese skewers!

    I've been making these for years! For a big party I use a bag of 100 skewers and stack them in a big bowl (looks like a game of pick-up-sticks;) and drizzle balsamic vinaigrette over them (I like Newman's Own). I usually cut the tomatoes in half to make the package go farther and it's an easier bite. Always a huge hit and an easy vegetarian option:)

    Love caprese!
    It's actually my favourite food during the summer.
    I love your photo and I find this way of presenting caprese particularly great for a finger food party.
    The way I like caprese mosto though is using different kind of tomatoes and mixing them in a large bowl with large balls of buffalo mozzarella broken with my hands to irregular pieces. Basil and some vinaigrette and it taste fantastic!
    Yours look much nicer though!

    This would be a lot better if I had home-grown tomatoes - the ones from the store just taste incredibly meh virtually all the time because of how they are grown and shipped, and not to mention not really in season currently.

    Excellent presentation in your pictures ( and those are good too! ), and a simple to follow recipe that tastes great.
