Introduction: Cardboard Pull String Toy-Nezha

About: I am a high school student from The Lawrenceville School, I'm a maker who loves blending art and technology to create fun, meaningful projects. Whether it's a gift for family, a surprise for friends, or someth…

The animated movie Nezha 2 really inspired me, so I decided to make a fun pull-string toy out of cardboard and thread that brings this rebellious, energetic character—Nezha—to life. The toy can hang on the wall as a decoration or on a door like a quirky little doorbell.

Supplies

The materials are super simple:

Scissors

Cardboard (or cardboard boxes)

Double-sided tape

Colored markers and pencils

Needle and thread

A utility knife

Step 1: Sketch and Cut

First, I looked online for pictures of Nezha and picked one that felt right.

Then I planned which parts would move and where to attach the pull strings. I sketched the character onto cardboard, then cut out all the different pieces using scissors and a utility knife.

Step 2: Color & Assemble

I outlined everything and added color with markers.

After that, I used needle and thread to connect the moving parts. I attached strings to them and tested how they moved—once it looked good, I put everything together.

When it’s all set up and hanging on the wall, it really comes to life! I connected the eyes, hands, and legs to different strings, so each part moves on its own. When you pull them together, Nezha moves in this super fun and lively way!
