Introduction: Carrot Fries
Hey y'all! Todays recipe is super easy and healthy! This is a great alternative to help cut back on some of the calories of traditional french fries. They might not rival the taste of traditional fries because we all know how delicious those are but these carrot fries are a healthy option which are still quite tasteful (as long as you don't go over board with the ranch) haha. If you want to know how to make your own carrot fries, follow the step by step intractable below or watch the video tutorial here:
Step 1: Ingredients and Tools
Ingredients
- 1 pound of Carrots
- Salt (to your taste)
- 1-2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
Tools
- aluminum foil
- cookie sheets
- chopping knife
Step 2: Preheat
Begin by preheating the over to 450 F. While preheating wash your carrots.
Step 3: Chop
Next, cut the carrots in half long ways and then cut those half’s in half again long ways (quarter lengthwise). Then cut each of those quarters again until they are roughly the size of a fry. You don't want them too big because they will not bake as well.
Step 4: Add to Cookie Sheet
Add your fries to a cooking sheet (I lined mine with foil for easy clean up).
Step 5: Add Ingredients
Add salt to your tasting and add your oil on top (enough to coat them) .Gently massage the salt, pepper and oil on the carrots to get them evenly coated all over. I ended up removing some of the carrot fries from this cookie sheet and adding them to a second cookie sheet. There were too many on this sheet and they will not bake completely if they are compacted too tightly on, so spread them out.
Step 6: Bake
Put them in the oven for about 15-20 mins (at ten minutes turn them over to bake evenly). It is important to flip them because they will not bake throughout if you don't!
Step 7: Enjoy!
Take them out once they are done and enjoy them dipped in ranch or ketchup. Enjoy!

Great receipt and you will get a quite amazing upgrade when adding shopped celery root, beets and potato's, garlic, rosemary, etc … jummy
The oven is okay but also great on a wood BBQ

You did not mention pepper in ingredients section. Only salt and coconut oil are mentioned. But, you instruct to mix pepper also with carrot, at cooking section..!

Sorry, my mistake. So used to putting salt and pepper together in the same sentence. I did not use pepper though. You can always add it :-)

Fries implies frying, I think. Baked crispy carrots, this is. Thanks for the recipe!

Haha, you're right maybe I should have called them baked, but they are in the shape of fries :-) You're welcome!

And actually the correct term is roasted. Baking is a process whereby ingredients transform into a finished product, i.e., batter becomes cake, etc.
Roasted Carrot Fries is, I think, the best and most accurate description.

I haven't made these for a long time, but I just bought a big bag of carrots, so here we go! Thanks for reminding me about them. Great photos and instructions.

I've been making these for years with some exceptions. I add parsnips (before you say uck roasting them brings out the sweetness), sweet potatoes and, sometimes, white potatoes. Even the most die-hard deniers of parsnips asks what that delicious white fry is and I gladly tell them! If I haven't added white potatoes to the mix I'll sprinkle on a little cinnamon. Vietnamese cinnamon which has a natural sweetness not found in regular cinnamon and is slightly milder is what I use predominantly,

Wow! That does sound delicious I'll have to give some of these tips a try. I'm a big fan of cinnamon and I think it would go really well with these or sweet potato fries. I'll look into parsnips and give it a go sometime. Thanks for the tips!

Interesting take on french fries, and the picture makes them look yummy. I might have to give these a try in the near future, thanks for sharing!

Yeah! They are not quite french fries but still pretty good, you can also add pepper to give them a little more flavor
