Introduction: "Cat in the Hat" Hat Pen/Pencil Holder
Make this easy and cute pen/pencil holder in honor of Dr. Seuss!
Step 1: What You'll Need
One Red (or color of your choice) can koozie or cylinder holder
One piece of red foam
One piece of sticky back white foam
Scissors
Foam glue
Pen
Something with a circular base slightly larger than your koozie or cylinder
Step 2: Cut "Stripes"
Cut the white sticky back foam the long way into approximately 1 inch strips. You only need two for each hat.
Step 3: Make the Base
Using your pen and circle object, trace the circle onto the red foam.
Step 4: Cut Out Circle
Cut out the circle you just traced.
Step 5: Apply White Stripes to "Hat"
Trim the white stripes to the right length to go around your cylinder/koozie.
Peel the backing off the sticky side and apply to your cylinder/koozie.
It doesn't have to be perfect - wonky is actually more "Cat In The Hat"-like.
I put mine so the seams were in about the same place on the back side of the pencil/pen holder.
If desired, secure the ends with foam glue.
Step 6: Apply the Base
Apply a liberal coating of foam glue to the bottom of your cylinder/koozie.
Center the circle you cut out on the cylinder and glue down.
Let dry, then fill with pens, colored pencils, markers, etc...
Enjoy!
