Introduction: Cheap Airsoft Pistol Thigh Holster

This instructable will show you how to make an cheap and easy airsoft pistol holster. I made this from an old backpack and and old binder. If made correctly, This holster will last through the roughest airsoft games, and look awesome too! look at he photos, they help a lot! My holster features a homemade pouch for an extra pistol clip, which I will make an instructable for later.
Check out my video of it in action! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eD2v1orRd8

Update: The holster is a lot more sturdy if you reinforce it with duct tape.

Sorry about the picture quality, my camera is dying. Also sorry about the ms paint pics, I didn't take pics step by step because I didn't know I would make an instructable out of this.
You will need:
airsoft pistol
Hard, thin, flexible plastic sheet (binder cover)
Old backpack, with lots of plastic snap buckles
Plastic snap buckles (from backpack)
Hot glue gun
hot glue (lots)
A marker or sharpie that can write on, and show up on, backpack fabric.(no black sharpies!)
fabric belt (leather or plastic wont work well)

Step 1: Making the Frame

1. you need to cut either the front or back cover off the binder. Then fold it in half, and gently crease so you know where the middle is. Don't crease to hard or you will weaken the plastic too much.

2. place your pistol on the plastic as seen in the picture, then trace as shown, leaving about a half an inch of extra space on all sides.

3. flip the gun and do the same thing on the other half of the plastic sheet, as shown.

4. cut out the frame from the plastic. DO NOT CUT THE CENTER CREASE.

Step 2: Covering the Frame

1.Cut out a square of fabric from the backpack big enough to cover the frame, as shown in the picture 1.

2.hot glue your frame on the center of the cloth. Be sure to spread the glue evenly so there are no bumps.

3. trace around the cloth, leaving a half an inch of space on all sides, except for the right side, here, instead leave an inch and a half of space.

4.cut around the trace lines, then mark the cloth as shown in picture 3.

5. cut the lines you made in step 4, dispose of the corners you cut off, then hot glue the strips of cloth on the top, bottom, and left sides and fold them over onto the frame.

6. fold the holster in half. The left side should not be completely creased, but rounded. Then glue the remaining loose straps to the holster as shown in the picture. Make sure all the cloth is securely glued to the plastic, there should be no flapping cloth. Also, the bottom of the holster should be open. Most importantly, your gun should fit in the holster, as shown in my intro pic.

Congratulations! You're almost done!

Step 3: Adding the Buckles

1. cut the buckle straps off of the backpack, leaving plenty off length on the straps.

2. Put your gun in the holster, then glue on both halves of the buckle straps as shown in picture 2, these buckles hold the pistol into the holster when you're running or moving around a lot.

3. Cut another set of buckles and straps from the backpack. These are for securing the holster to your belt.

4. This part is hard to describe. Look at picture 1 to see how to do it. You need to glue a long buckle strap to the strap of the male half of the buckle you glued on in step 2. Then you cut down the female half of the buckle you just glued very short, then glue it to the male buckle strap you just glued on. Please look at the picture for this one, it will make things so much easier.

Step 4: Adding the Leg Strap

For the leg strap on my holster, I used one of the special skateboard holder straps featured on my Hawk brand backpack. I realize most of you will not have this, so in this instructable I called for a cloth belt.

1. Wrap the belt around your thigh and tighten it. The buckle should be on the inside of your thigh. It should be tight enough to stay secure, but not so tight as to cut off blood circulation in your leg.

2. Cut off any excess after you've tightened the belt. Be sure to leave about 4-6 inches of excess on the belt for adjustment.

3. Use a generous amount of hot glue to secure the leg belt to the holster. after this I secured the holster to the leg strap by gluing a spare strip of cloth to the holster, and to either side of it on the belt.

Now your homemade airsoft pistol holster is complete! Have fun and be safe! be sure to check out my video of me wearing mine to see how to wear it, if you don't know how. UPDATE: I used my holster in an actual airsoft fight today, and some of the hot-glued parts came off. I managed to fix this using a generous amount of duct tape.
