Introduction: Cheap Dust Collection $20

This can be put together in a matter of minutes. I use it for a dust collection when I am sanding that creates a lot of dust. Sanding by hand creates a fine dust that lingers in the air. I always wear a dust mask, but the collection helps keep the place clean, and you can remove your mask when the air clears. It can also be used cleaning something with a brush that will get a lot of dust in the air. It is portable also. I have one mounted behind my miter saw even though I have it hooked to a vacuum. This gets the find dust out of the air.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies You Will Need

1. You need a 20 inch box
2. A piece of material to act as a filter, something that will let the air pass through but catch the dust. I cut up an old sheet. The slicker the material the better.

3. magnets to attach the cloth to the fan housing. In a temporary case tape also works.

Step 2: Locate Your Fan

Locate the fan near your project. Put your cloth on the inlet side of the fan and secure it. Turn the fan on high speed. I brush off the dust when it builds up too much. If this is a temporary dust collection when you are done just fold your cloth up gently to take outside and shake it.
