Intro: Cheapest and Easiest Wii Sensor Bar

Here is described the easiest way to build a Wii sensor bar, it works for me with my dolphin emulator at 21 feets.
 Only needed :

4 IR LEDS (Be sure a re Infra Red) $ 1.5
An unused USB cable (free)
SOme wire (about one feet) (Free)
Some plastic from an unused cassette box. (free)
A candle (found at any house)
A small bar or spare silicon (used in pistols)

Total: Around $. 2.-

OK. Be sure you peel the USB cable and will only use two cables, the red (+) and maybe a black or blue one (-)

On the IR Leds be sure to connect the longest feet (+) to red cable and make a serial circuit like the one shown in the pictures.

Once the circuit is complete, seal the connections with melted silicone, place the two sensors around 12" distance one to other.
Place all on the top of your LCD TV, connect the USB male to the USB connector on your TV.

That´s all.

You have now a WII remote sensor in less than 30 mins.

I need help on powering X5 LEDS from an AC-DC power adapter. The IR LEDS are rated for 940nm and are 1.2-1.5V and they each use 20-30ma current amps.

Would a 6V AC-DC power adapter with 100ma work and be safe? I do not want to add resistors. I am trying to get the LEDS to match the voltage and current based on the total amount of LEDS I am using which is X5. IR LEDS 940nm type. Here is the link. Do you sell one like this I can buy in bulk?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BVGIZGC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

IR LED - 940nm Infared LED Diodes
(1.2V - 1.5V) Rated voltage

1.2v X 5 IR LEDS = 6V TOTAL

1.5v X 4 IR LEDS = 6V TOTAL

(20-25ma)

20 X 5 IN SERIES = 100ma TOTAL ALL LEDS / PERFECT MATCH TO AC-DC

25 X 4 IN SERIES = 100ma TOTAL ALL LEDS / PERFECT MATCG TO AC-DC

30 X 5 IN SERIES = 150ma OVERCURRENT OF 50ma, 50ma more amps than 100ma

30 X 4 IN SERIES = 120ma OVERCURRENT OF 20ma, 20ma more amps than 100ma

I assume I could use either X4 IRLEDS total or X5 IR LEDS total correct? That would be safe on a 6V 100ma AC-DC Power adapter?

I do NOT want to add a resistor, I am trying to get the amps and volts to safe levels without adding the heat consumption of a resistor too.

Does the frequency matter much? Just looking around for parts, and I'm seeing both 940nm and 950nm, and a mix of two pin and three pin parts. I'm guessing I need to stick with the two pin for this.

´´Once the circuit is complete, seal the connections with melted silicone, place the two sensors around 12" distance one to other.´´ Sorry but 12 would be inches or centimeters?

But one question. Why do we need 4 LEDs? Should it not work with only 2?

You can actually use two candles for the sensoer bar.

Does work, but IR Leds are more stable. And cheaper in the long run.

If I did make this I would probably just put a battery on it or something. But I probably won't make it because it's cheaper to buy one from Ebay.

I think the idea with the USB Port on the TV is not bad. So the IR Bar works when you need it, and turns off when you turn off your TV.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00E3P42MA means the LEDs are £1.

The Rest you can get from old trash. I have not seen any that cheap on Ebay.

Nothing is free!
