Introduction: Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipie from allrecipes.com subbmitted by ELIZABETHBH.  I love to bake, and out of the dozens of other chocolate chip cookie recipies I have tried this one is by far the best.  The cookies have nice, crispy edges, with soft, chewy centers.  "These cookies are the pinnacle of perfection!  If you want a big, fat, chewy cookie like the kind you see at bakeries and specialty shops, then these are the cookies for you!"

Step 1: Gather the Ingredients

Yields about 15 1/4 cup cookies

dry ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

wet ingredients
3/4 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1 egg yolk

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.  Grease 3 cookie sheets.

Step 2: Mix Together Dry Ingredients

Measure the flour by taking a spoon and scoping 1 spoonful of flour into the measuring cup at a time.  Then take a knife with a flat side and scrape the excess flour off.  Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.

Step 3: Mix It Up

In a medium bowl, cream togerther melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended.

Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy.

Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended.

Stir in the chocolate chips by hand, using a wooden spoon.

Step 4: Scoop, Drop, and Bake

Drop cookie dough 1/4 cup at a time onto the prepared cookie sheets.  Cookies should be about 3 inches apart.

Place cookies in the preheated oven and bake for 15-17 minutes, or until edges are lightly toasted.

Step 5: Cool

Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Step 6: Enjoy

Sit back, enjoy, and watch as your cookies disapear!
