Introduction: Chex Hack
When I quit smoking I merely switched my addiction, I was eating a bag of hard candy every 2 days or so and boxes of cheese crackers a week, I especially liked to mix the white cheddar and the hot versions and eat them while watching tv or reading at night with the to be expected result that I put on nearly 70lbs in 13 months ! Most of the alternatives I found were to bland for my taste so I decided to create my own, I've made several versions by varying the seasonings and types or use of hard cheese
Step 1: What I Used
plain rice chex cereal has only 100 calories per cup serving
spray oil
1/8tsp powdered ginger
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp red pepper
3/4 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp cumin
2 tablespn parmesan cheese
Step 2: Mix
I added all the spices and the hard cheese together in a cup, poured the chex cereal in a large bowl and sprayed it with the oil spray, then I sprinkled the spice combination over the cereal and stirred it, repeating until I had used all the spices and the cereal looked well coated
Step 3: Bake and Save
I spread the cereal on a perforated rack and baked at 350f for about 15 minutes until I started to smell it cooking, then I removed the tray and allowed the cereal to cool before transferring to a plastic bag.
The cereal has a slight sweetness to it that underlies the complexity of the spices, I almost don't miss my cheese crackers..... almost.......

seolfor, thank you for commenting. They are very good, maybe not as good as the cheese crackers but a close 2nd, lol, it's easily adaptable by changing the spices around and manipulating the amounts to your tastes
