Introduction: "Chocolate" Balls With a Healthy Twist!
As a child, one of the first desserts I ever made was chocolate balls.
I used to make them almost every week, and of course ate way too many of them...
As I got older, the love for my childhood's favorite dessert never passed, but as someone who cares a lot about health and fitness I tried finding a way to make my favorite dessert on the healthy side.
I tried many many recipes, but this one is the tastiest one I ever made and even better then my childhood memory, so I wanted to share it with more people so everyone will enjoy a healthy snack that feels like an unhealthy one :)
it's super quick and easy and even vegan, so let's get to it!
Supplies
Ingredients:
- 15 medjoul dates
- 1 cup nuts of choice
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup milk of choice
- 2 table spoons chocolate chips
- coconut flakes
Step 1:
Insert into a food processor/blender the dates without the pit
Step 2:
add all ingredients except for the nuts
Step 3:
blend to a smooth mixture
Step 4:
add the nuts and blend a little more to crush them a bit
Step 5:
prepare a plate with coconut flakes in it
Step 6:
table a piece of the "chocolate" mixture to create small balls, and roll them in the coconut flakes until coated
Step 7:
store the "chocolate" balls in the fridge for about 30 minutes, and enjoy!
Step 8: Some Tips
- I used pecan nuts, walnuts and hazelnuts, but you can choose any kind of nuts you want :)
- I used almond milk, but any kind of milk works here!
