Introduction: Christmas 2014 Mug

I created this 3 centimeter tall mug with AutoCAD 2015.

Step 1: Step 1: Draw the Mug

I used a cylinder as my basic shape. With the dimensions of 2 inches tall and a 1 inch radius.

Step 2: Step 2: Creating the Inside of the Mug

I cut out the inside of the mug leaving .5" of space between the inside wall and the outside wall.

Step 3: Step 3: Creating the Handle

I used a sweep to create the handle. I created a rounded edged rectangle as my profile, and designed the path/shape of the handle.

Step 4: Step 4: Refining the Shape

I chamfered the bottom of the mug, and filleted the top to make a rounded edge.

Step 5: Step 5: Creating the 3D Text

I followed the instructions for making 3D text with the help button on AutoCAD.

Step 6: Step 6: Rotating the Text

I rotated the text to fit the curved surface of the mug.

Step 7: Step 7: Cutting Out the Text

I cut the text out of the mug using the subtract comand.

Step 8: Step 8: Final Size

I finished by scaling the mug to half of its original size to make it smaller.

Step 9: Step 9: Export and Print

I exported the stl file to a Makerbot 5th generation replicator, and converted the inches to millimeters. I printed it using red PLA filament with rafts on.
