STEP 1: Materials Needed
The following is a list of the materials needed to complete this card:
Medallion rubber stamp,
Merry Christmas rubber stamp,
Red cardstock,
Ivory cardstock,
Embossing ink pad,
Gold embossing powder,
Heat tool,
Glue pen,
Double sided tape pen,
Red and green glitter,
3D foam pads,
Scissors,
Paper trimmer,
Scoring tool.

STEP 2: Stamp the Medallion Image
Ink up the medallion rubber stamp with the embossing ink pad. Apply the ink pad to the rubber stamp evenly to ensure the entirety of the image is covered in ink.
Stamp the medallion rubber stamp onto the ivory cardstock. Press firmly and evenly over the image to make sure all of the image is stamped onto the card.
Pour the gold embossing powder over the image. Make sure to do this over a piece of scrap paper. Tip off the excess powder onto the scrap paper and return it to the pot. The embossing powder will only stick to the image stamped by the embossing ink.
Stamp the medallion rubber stamp onto the ivory cardstock. Press firmly and evenly over the image to make sure all of the image is stamped onto the card.
Pour the gold embossing powder over the image. Make sure to do this over a piece of scrap paper. Tip off the excess powder onto the scrap paper and return it to the pot. The embossing powder will only stick to the image stamped by the embossing ink.
STEP 3: Emboss the Medallion Image
Now use the heat tool to emboss the gold embossing powder. The heat tool causes the embossing powder to melt, creating a raised and shiny finish.
When using the heat tool, hold it at least 2 inches away from the image, at a 45 degree angle from the image and constantly moving across the image. This will prevent burning the embossing powder, which will result in a dull finish.
Watch for the powder to melt and become raised. Continue heating until this occurs across the whole image.

STEP 4: Repeat Stamping and Embossing 5 Times
Stamp and emboss the medallion image, as in step 2 and 3, a further four times to produce a total of five medallion images.
The medallion image is composed of five layers. We will cut out each layer, one layer per copy of the medallion.
For the first image, cut out the entire image.
For the second image cut out the next internal layer of the image.
For each consecutive image, cut out the next internal layer (see the photo for help).
This will produce five layers, each layer smaller than the last.

STEP 5: Apply Glitter to the Medallion Layers
Next, apply glitter to parts of each layer.
Use the glue pen to apply glue to the area you wish to glitter. Then apply glitter to the glue area. I find it easiest to apply glitter using a small spoon, this minimizes the amount of excess glitter produced. As with the embossing powder, apply glitter over a scrap piece of paper so that any excess can be returned to the pot.

STEP 7: Assemble the 3D Medallion
Next it is time to assemble the layers into one 3D medallion. 3D foam pads are used to create dimension between each layer.
Lay the first largest layer face up. Place the next layer face down and apply 3D foam pads to the center of the back of the image.

Remove the backing paper from the 3D foam pads and place the second layer onto the first layer.
Make sure to line it up correctly with the outline of the second layer on the first layer.

Place foam pads onto the back of each consecutive layer and apply to the main medallion.
Continue adding layers until all five layers have been applied.
To finish the medallion, apply an adhesive gem to the center of the final layer.

STEP 10: Make the Card Base
Make the card base from the red cardstock.
Measure out and cut, using the paper trimmer, a rectangle with the dimensions 10" x 5"
Divide the 10" length in half by marking 5" in on both sides.
Create the card crease by using the scoring tool. Score a line where you marked and fold the card in half. The resulting card will measure 5" x 5" square.

STEP 11: Stamp and Emboss the Greeting
Ink up the "Merry Christmas" rubber stamp with embossing ink. Stamp the greeting along the bottom of the front of the card.
Pour gold embossing powder onto the stamped greeting. Pour off the excess.
Use the heat tool to emboss the powder to produce a raised embossed effect.

STEP 12: Apply the Medallion to the Card Base
All that is left to do is to stick the medallion onto the card base.
Because of the dimension of the medallion this is best done by first placing the medallion onto the card base to assess where it should be placed. Then apply glue to the card base rather than the medallion. Stick the medallion onto the card base and press gently, so as not to flatten the layers.
I also chose to add a white paper insert to the inside of the card (optional).
Your card is now complete!

Do you use the art glitter "dries clear" adhesive ?
Its so pretty, I keep coming back to look at it!

The stamp is called Morning Melody.
I use Quickie Glue by Sakura. It is a pen that has a pinpoint nib, like a gel pen but glue. It's amazing because it allows you to add glue with the precision of a pen. I think it dries clear, but the glitter gives such good coverage I don't have an issue with the glue showing through. Btw, if you haven't tried Sakura's gelly roll and stardust pens they are a must also. They're great for colouring in stamped images.

Where do you get your glitter from. I got a couple of bad (unsparkly) batches of glitter......Is there somewhere you can buy really good glitter in bulk?
I don't understand why this only got a 3 star rating.......I'm new at this so maybe I don't understand something....?

The glitter I use is called Pee Wee glitters by Art Institute Glitter. I bought mine back in the UK, but if you google it it comes right up. They come in packs of 7 colours, and there are many different coloured kits available. As the name implies, the volume you get is pretty small and considering the small amount it is a bit spendy. But the result you get is amazing. So in my opinion the price is worth it. Unfortunately I have not yet come across nice glitter in bulk. It seems you often have to compromise.
Hopefully I can get more stars in the future!
