Introduction: Classic App Le Pie

Ipod Apple classic pie. It's portable and holds a ton of apple pie filling.

I was thinking of making an ipad but wasn't sure if I had enough pie dough and filling to use. It would have been a bit bigger, have a touchscreen, and way more expensive.

Step 1: Forage Like Early Man...

Who has time to make stuff from scratch? Gas up that Hummer of yours and get to the mega-mart to shop for your wholey-processed convenience foods. Be prepared to pay more if you want it certified organic. If you really want to do things right, you of course can make your pie dough from scratch and even make fresh pie fruit filling if desired. Just search for the instructables on those topics.

You will need:

Pre-made pie crusts
can of apple pie filling
an egg to use as a glaze

experiment with fruit jelly glaze or food coloring to decorate the display

some aluminum foil to make a ring mold

baking tray or cookie sheet to bake the pie

CAUTION: Know how to operate your kitchen appliances, be careful with using sharp implements, know how to work with gas, clean up after yourself. If you can't stand the fn heat, get out of the fn kitchen.

Step 2: Squared Away...

Get a piece of aluminum foil to form a rectangular mold the shape of our ipod.

Grease up a baking pan or cookie sheet with butter.

Place the ring mold in the center.

Drape in a pie crust to fill the bottom and the sides.

Trim away the excess at the top.

Step 3: Top It Off...

Fill with pie filling.

Drape a piece of pie dough over the top.

Trim away the excess.

Crimp the edges all the way around.

Cut out pieces that make the display screen and control rings.

You may need to brush the dough with some water to get it to stick.

Using a fork, pierce some vent holes for excess steam to escape when baking.

You can carefully pick it up and do a custom inscription on the back.  Make note of the serial number for all warranty work.

Step 4: Baked Apple...

At this point you should glaze your ipod. A final egg wash goes over everything to give it that baked gloss.

Bake in an oven at 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes, depending on the size of the storage space. Keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn. The pie filling may ooze over and make a mess so use a cookie tray as a drip pan. It makes it easier to get the pie out of the oven too.

Take out of the oven to cool.

Enjoy!
