Introduction: Cleaning PVC Pipe (the EASY Way)
Have you ever tired to clean PVC Pipe? It's not an easy job. My recent project called for 200 Feet of PVC Pipe. I had plenty of time to experiement. I tried Pipe Cleaner, Acetone, Sanding, Steel Wool, and Paint Remover. They worked, but it required a lot of time and effort. I kept thinking that there must be an easier way.
Step 1:
The best method that I found was to start by wiping the lettering with Goo Gone. Just a light coat is all that is needed. Then go to Step 2.
Step 2:
Using a second cloth, clean the lettering with Acetone. You will need to scrub a little and the lettering will wipe off.

Thanks for posting. This is just the information I need right when I needed it. I let the Goo Gone set for about half an hour and used the tiniest bit of acetone. The pipe is clean and shiny. Again, thanks.

we use olive oil - cos that pesky writing drives me nuts - smooth clean pipe is super smart, all that text can ruin a project.
Good instructable - the more ways of getting that writing off the better
