Introduction: Cleaning UGG Boots

Hi, my name is Alexis Schmalz. Today, I want to help people make their belongings look new after a deep clean. I’m going to show everyone how to feel more confident in what they should wear out in public. In ten easy steps, I want people to learn the difference between dirty UGGs and clean UGGs and how maintained they need to be. Another benefit of taking care of the boots is that they last longer and helps them keep their original form.

Step 1: Supplies

First, gather the materials needed to clean the UGG boots. These materials include a suede brush, a sponge, UGG spray protector, UGG cleaner and conditioner, UGG shoe renew, and paper towels. Most of these products can be found in the UGG sheepskin care kit.

Step 2: Brushing the Boots

To start off, grab the suede brush and gently brush the boots in a single direction so the boot has the same appearance all around. Do this a couple of times until the boots are brushed thoroughly. This is to help get all of the dirt and unwanted fibers in the boot out to make for an easy clean.

Step 3: Sheepskin Protector

Next, take out the UGG spray protector and shake it well before opening. After shaking the bottle, hold the spray about 6 inches away from the boot, which should be on a flat surface. While spraying, make sure that it is sprayed evenly and that the boot is wet but not soaked. If it is soaked it can result in a longer process of drying to boot. UGGs are also not waterproof so it can cause damage if soaked all the way.

Step 4: Air Dry

After this, place the boots on a flat surface where they will not be disturbed. In order to go on to the next step, the boots have to dry naturally for 24 hours in a ventilated area. Make sure the boots aren’t in direct sunlight and aren’t next to a heater, it will not help them dry faster. By doing this step it helps ensure that the boots are completely dry for the next step and that the chemicals aren’t mixing when wet. It will also prevent the boot from over soaking and causing damage.

Step 5: Dry and Brush

To resume, check the boots to see if they are dry. If they are not dry, check back in an hour or two, sometimes they need to dry a little longer. Once they are finally dry, take the suede brush and brush them in the same direction all around to give them the same appearance as before. This is to make sure that when going onto the next step, the boots are improving their appearance and are not undoing the previous steps.

Step 6: Cleaner and Conditioner

In this next step, get the sponge and make it wet. If the boots are wet, it will have to dry again because the cleaner will not work properly. Make the boot a little damp before applying the cleaner and conditioner to the damp sponge. Gently scrub the boot to help remove residue. After, take the paper towels and stuff them in the boots to keep their form while it is drying.

Step 7: Air Dry Again

This step is the same as Step 4 but to refresh, place the boots on a flat surface where they will not be disturbed. In order to go on to the next step, the boots have to dry naturally for 24 hours in a ventilated area. Make sure the boots aren’t in direct sunlight and aren’t next to a heater, it will not help them dry faster if they are placed next to a heater.

Step 8: Brush the Boot

Once again, check the boots to make sure they are fully dry. If they are fully dry take the paper towels out of the boot, if the boot is not dry let it sit for another hour or two. Next, take the suede brush, this will be the last time to use the brush so hang tight! Take the brush and gently brush the boot in the same direction to give it the same appearance.

Step 9: Shoe Renew

Finally, take the UGG shoe renew and open it. Spray the shoe renew inside the boots on the sheepskin. This will help get rid of the odor in the boots. If too much spray was used, wipe away the excess residue.

Step 10: Finished Product

Before wearing the boots, let them dry for a couple of hours. After they are fully dry, the boots should be ready to wear.
