Introduction: Coating a Color Image on a Silver Ring With a Diode Laser (Endurance 10 Watt DPSS Laser Nd: YAG, 1064 Nm, F = 20mm).Laser Nd: YAG, 1064 Nm, F = 20mm).
A task:
Create a color image on the silver surface without the use of dyes. As in previous works, the "tarnishing effect" is involved, which allows you to obtain a color image on various metals.
Step 1: Material Preparation.
The flat part of the ring should be sanded to a mirror finish. The surface should be as flat and smooth as possible. The ring is fixed on the desktop of the laser machine, as shown in the photo.
Step 2: Preparation of the Image
The drawing "Eye of Horus" was taken as a basis. The entire image is applied in one pass. The size of the image is selected in accordance with the processed surface of the ring.
Step 3: Processing
In the LidhtBurn program, select the following mode: speed 700 mm / min., Power 10% (a color image is obtained in the power range of 6% -17%. The color of the image depends on this parameter), an interval of 0.05 mm. Important - the distance from the laser lens to the treated surface is 17.6 mm. If you deviate from this value, the image will not acquire color.
Step 4: Result
After engraving the surface of the silver ring in a given mode, it was possible to obtain a color image. But there is one caveat - the image is unstable and is erased even with a light touch of a finger. Work is underway on this problem, and a solution will certainly be found.
