Introduction: Coffee Table Makeover Using My Miter Saw
Have I told you that I love my Dewalt Miter Saw?
I do, it seriously makes so many projects easy, including this coffee table makeover. And this coffee table turned out so cute. You won’t believe what it looked like when I found it. I doubt the last owner would recognize it
The truth is this coffee table started out as one of those huge 2-tier end tables that was so popular in the 80’s and 90’s. But a table that size (32″x32″) just doesn’t fit into most living rooms as an end table. I wasn’t sure I wanted it at first, but the legs are absolutely beautiful and the price was great. I just had to figure out what to do about that second tier.
Step 1: The Transformation
I finally decided to cut the top tier off. This left 4 holes in the top where dowels attached the top tier to the bottom tier. Instead of patching, I decided to have some fun with my miter saw.
First, I primed and painted the table. Then lightly sanded the edges to give it a distressed look.
Step 2: Getting Ready to Make My Cuts.
Then I used a long level to mark an X across the table from corner to corner. This would act as my measuring guide.
I worked from the outside in, making 45-degree cuts on 1"x3" Common Board.
Step 3: The Finished Piece
The new tabletop is stunning. Everyone that sees it wants to talk about it. And it was a fun project too.
