Introduction: Computer Build Guide

A step by step guide to help you build a computer.

Step 1: Identify Parts

Make sure you have all of the necessary parts needed to build a functional computer. Before buying the parts make sure that everything is compatible.

Step 2: Case

The case is what will house all of the components

Step 3: Power Supply

The power supply provides power to all of your parts. To install it open the back panel and there will be a spot for it in the bottom right.

Step 4: CPU/Heatsink

One you install the CPU into its socket (There will be a gold triangle on the CPU and a triangle on the socket so you know how to align it properly) then you can apply the heatsink. If there is no pre applied thermal paste on the heatsink make sure you apply a pea sized amount onto the CPU.

Step 5: Motherboard and Standoffs

When putting the motherboard into the case make sure you have standoffs applied first. There is a little tool to put on the standoff which allows you to screw the standoffs into the case

Step 6: RAM

To install the ram make sure to line up the little notch in the RAM and the slot (make sure to open the little lever so the RAM can go in), then apply even pressure on both sides and push until you hear a click.

Step 7: Graphics Card

You will apply the graphics card into the highlighted area labeled GPU right above it. On the highlighted area on the left, you will have to remove the appropriate one to put the graphics card in.

Step 8: Cable Management

Rout the cables through the closest hole in the case so that it looks better and you don't have cables everywhere.

Step 9: SSD

This is an NVME M.2 SSD so to apply it find the slot (should be labeled) then apply at an angle and push a little bit until it clicks into place. Then grab the screw and screw it down into place.

Step 10: Post/Beep Codes

To make sure everything works plug your components into your power supply and turn it on to make sure everything works. You can either have a speaker plugged into the motherboard or connect it to a monitor. If you have a speaker plugged in you should hear a post beep, If its beeping a lot then check the motherboard manual and see what the beeps mean. If its plugged into a monitor you should see it boot up and say something along the lines of this device doesn't have windows installed.

Step 11: Case Fans

You can apply fans into any of the highlighted spots. The main places to put fans are the front and back, you do not need top fans it would just cool it a little more. The front fans should be bringing in air, and the back fan should be releasing the air. And if you are installing top fans make sure that they are blowing air out.
