In our living room we had only a normal IKEA table and were looking for a new stable living room table.

All tables made of concrete were too expensive or only printed. So we thought about building our own.

The instructions are kept as short as possible.

Supplies

1) Wood scraps

2) Steel inlay

3) Release agent

4) Pigment color

5) 40kg concrete + gravel

6) Silicone

7) Concrete sealer

Step 1:

A box (90x60x7cm) built from wood scraps.

This sealed with silicone on the sides.

The wooden inserts sanded and oiled placed in the casing.

This also sealed with silicone on the edges.

This prevents the cement from leaking out.

Release agent applied everywhere on the formwork. Do NOT apply the release coat to the wood.

Let the silicone drone out and pull it off with your finger to form a small bevel .

The frame is ready.

Step 2:

Mix the concrete with water and gravel. Add the pigment powder to make the concrete look darker.

Fill the mold halfway with concrete.

Now insert the grid for reinforcement.

Fill the entire mold to the end. Smooth it out.

The top is the bottom, so it does not matter if it is not completely smooth. A smooth surface comes through the mold.

We have still pressed in our hands for a personal signature. You can do that as you like.

Step 3:

Let the table dry out completely. This may take up to 14 days. Depending on the thickness and water retention of the table. It is important that the table is completely dry to maintain its maximum strength.

Finally, the table is coated with a sealer to protect it from unsightly stains.

We have used an old base from our previous table.

The table weighs 75kg and is therefore not easy to transport. However, once it has finally been placed, it is solid and secure.
