Introduction: Control the RGB LED Lights Using Your Smartphone

What do we want? To transform the boring TV and computer screens into something chic! When do we want? RIGHT NOW! So, grab some RGB LED strips, an HC-05 Bluetooth, module, and evive and install Dabble in your Smartphone and you’re ready to turn the boring and ordinary into fun and extraordinary! Step 1: Components Required
Hardware
- evive
- RGB LED Strip
- Bluetooth Module HC05
- Jumper Cables
Software
All the above components can be found in the STEMpedia Starter Package.
Step 2: Making the Connection
Make the Connection of the RGB LED Strip as shown:
- GND – GND of evive
- VCC – +5V of evive
- DIN – Digital Pin 7 of evive
Step 3: Working
The Android App Dabble on your Smartphone is used to control the RGB LED Strip.
Connect the Bluetooth of your Smartphone with the Bluetooth Module mounted on evive. Open the Gamepad Module.
In the Gamepad module, each button has a different function corresponding to the RGB LED Strip. They are:
- Up: Rainbow
- Down: Rainbow Cycle
- Left: Theaterchase rainbow
- Right: Theater Chase
- Circle: Color wipe red
- Triangle: Color wipe blue
- Cross: Color wipe yellow
- Square: Color wipe Sky blue
You can change the color of the strip and the pattern if you want.
Step 4: Code
PictoBlox is a graphical programming software based on Scratch 3.0 that makes learning how to code easy and fun. It allows you to interface and control evive with your computer and even uploads code to it. You can download PictoBlox from here.
